Overview We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
with a strong interest in inpatient infectious diseases to join our
consultative team. This role is primarily inpatient-focused, ideal
for an APP who enjoys complex clinical problem-solving,
hospital-based medicine, and developing deep expertise in
infectious diseases. The position is intentionally structured to
provide significant mentorship from experienced infectious diseases
physicians, making it well-suited for an APP transitioning into ID
from hospital medicine or internal medicine, or for someone earlier
in their ID career seeking structured guidance and growth. Primary
Responsibilities (Inpatient Emphasis) Perform inpatient infectious
diseases consultations across affiliated hospitals Evaluate and
manage patients with complex infections, including but not limited
to bacteremia, sepsis, endocarditis, osteomyelitis,
device-associated infections, and multidrug-resistant organisms
Participate in daily multidisciplinary discussions with hospitalist
teams, interventionists, surgeons, pharmacists, and case management
Contribute to antimicrobial stewardship through evidence-based
recommendations Follow hospitalized patients longitudinally during
admission and transition of care Document consults and follow-ups
clearly and efficiently in the EMR Secondary Responsibilities
Limited outpatient infectious diseases clinic work, primarily
follow-up and continuity for patients seen in the hospital (e.g.,
OPAT, post-discharge care) Mentorship & Professional Development
Direct, ongoing mentorship from board-certified infectious diseases
physicians Gradual increase in clinical independence with strong
attending backup Regular case discussions and real-time teaching on
diagnostics, antimicrobial selection, and ID reasoning Support for
long-term skill development in complex inpatient ID care A practice
culture that values questions, learning, and thoughtful medicine
Schedule & Call Primarily weekday inpatient coverage Limited
overnight and/or weekend call (details discussed during interview)
Predictable, sustainable schedule designed to support longevity in
practice Qualifications Licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician
Assistant (or eligible) in Pennsylvania Strong background in
hospital medicine, internal medicine, or critical care preferred
Experience in Infectious diseases is welcome but not required for
candidates with solid inpatient training Strong clinical judgment,
communication skills, and interest in complex care Comfort working
both independently and collaboratively within a small team What We
